A chocolate spread that actually has hazelnut pieces in it, have I died and gone to heaven? It's no secret that I am a lover of anything that involves chocolate and hazelnut so when I saw this spread in Lidl for only 99p it was a win win situation and went straight in my basket. Let me tell you. It has changed my life, yes a chocolate spread can do that to a girl. It tastes just like the chocolate that's inside a Ferrero Rocher and with the hazelnut pieces inside it really is like putting one in your mouth! This is part of Lidl's deluxe range, deluxe by name, deluxe by nature. I tried it with pancakes and strawberries and it just added an extra texture to them as well as tasting pretty darn great. I mean of course you could just eat it out of the jar... because everyone does that, right?
It's smooth, not to dark which is a plus with me because I don't like dark chocolate and has a great crunchy texture thanks to the nuts. So if you love chocolate spread, hazelnut, Ferrero Rocher or anything of that nature then get yourself down to Lidl and pick this pot of heaven up. You can also pick up toffee spread, mocha spread and a coconut spread. Iv'e heard the coconut one is like the inside of a Kinder Bueno, another one of my favourite chocolates... and down to Lidl I go. Down below is the recipe for the pancakes pictured above if you fancy having a go, because pancakes are not just for pancake day.
Pancakes
130g Plain Flour
Pinch of Salt
1 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
300ml Milk
Place the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl. Add in the eggs, vegetable oil and half of the milk. Whisk until lump free, the mixture will be quite thick at this point. Add in the remaining milk until just thicker than single cream. Leave to sit for 10 minutes.
Heat a frying pan or a pancake pan on a medium heat, using a piece of kitchen towel rub a little oil on the pan to avoid the mixture from sticking. Pour in a ladle of batter into the pan and tilt the pan backwards and forwards until a thin and even layer has covered the whole pan. You want the pancake to be golden brown underneath, this should take around 30 seconds depending on how thick your pancakes are. Flip them over and cook again for the same amount of time, transfer onto a plate and enjoy with a topping of your choice. I of course went for this spread and some strawberries.
